Work out what any appliance costs per use, day, week, month and year using watts or measured kWh.
Open calculator →Calculate appliance electricity cost, compare air fryer and oven cooking and test whether a heat-pump dryer can repay a higher purchase price.

Open calculator →Estimate whether a more efficient heat-pump tumble dryer can recover its higher purchase price.
Open calculator →Compare a complete cooking job including appliance power, preheat time and cooking duration.
Open calculator →Use measured kWh from a smart plug or energy label where available. Rated wattage is useful for simple resistive loads but cycling appliances can draw less than their maximum rating over time.
Use your own tariff or quote figures, then run the calculator again with a more conservative assumption for the input you are least sure about. A decision that still looks sensible under both cases is more robust than one that only works under optimistic inputs.
Default rates are only a starting reference. Replace them with the unit rates and standing charges from your current bill or the tariff you are considering.
