Appliance electricity cost
How much does a electric oven cost to run?
This worked example uses 2,400 W, 1 hours on each use day and 182 use days per year. Change any of these inputs in the calculator.

Electricity-price sensitivity
| Electricity price | Energy/use day | Annual energy | Annual cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15p/kWh | 2.40 kWh/day when used | 437 kWh/year | £66/yr |
| 25p/kWh | 2.40 kWh/day when used | 437 kWh/year | £109/yr |
| 35p/kWh | 2.40 kWh/day when used | 437 kWh/year | £153/yr |
Important assumption
Ovens cycle their heating elements, so 2.4 kW continuous for one hour is deliberately conservative as a simple worked example.
This is a worked planning estimate, not a measurement of your appliance. A smart plug, energy monitor or manufacturer annual-kWh figure usually gives a better real-world input for cycling appliances.
